Anti-Virus Protection at U-M

One of the most important ways you can protect your computer is to use anti-virus software. We strongly recommend that you download and install one of the following anti-virus products. They are free to the U-M community and U-M Online (UMOL) subscribers.

Download Anti-Virus Software

For your personally-owned computer: For your university-owned computer:
Windows Use Microsoft Security Essentials
  1. Uninstall McAfee VirusScan (or your current anti-virus product)
  2. Download Microsoft Security Essentials
(Note: Microsoft Security Essentials is NOT for use on university-owned computers.)
 Use Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection

Is my PC running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows?

IT departments can order the complete Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection media via U-M Software Licensing and Distribution.
