Marketscore Blocking Schedule at U-M

To protect members of the University of Michigan community and University data, U-M blocked Internet access on computers that have Marketscore software installed on February 21, 2005. Information about the plan to block Internet access on computers infected with Marketscore will be distributed according to the following schedule.

February 2005 - Implementation Schedule for Marketscore Blocking

Send e-mail to U-M system administrators, hostmasters and help desks on Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses telling them about the Marketscore blocking and asking them to assist members of the U-M community affected by this security effort.

Send e-mail to all U-M students, faculty, and staff telling them about the Marketscore blocking and linking them to the reources for removing Marketscore.

Submit articles to local and U-M newspapers about the Marketscore spyware problem, U-M's plan to block Marketscore, and resource information for the U-M community.

Send e-mail to specific U-M students, faculty, and staff who have been identified as users of computers infected with Marketscore.

Block Internet access on computers infected with Marketscore. If you use a computer with Marketscore installed, this action will disrupt your Internet activity as follows:

If you connect to the Internet through a U-M network, you will not have access to any Internet resources. Your browser window will display a page that explains that your computer is infected with Marketscore and how you can remove it.

If you connect to the Internet through another network provider, you will not have access to any U-M Internet resources. Your browser window will display the standard "Page not found" information.
