White List EmailThe following white list email was received on 06/01/09. It has been confirmed as a legitimate U-M communication. From: U-M IT Central Services Accounts Office ***Please take action; this is your only notice. *** A routine, twice-a-year audit of password strength by Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) and IT Security Services (ITSS) indicates that your UMICH Kerberos password (http://www.itd.umich.edu/your-account/whatiskpass.html) is weak. Weak passwords put your personal electronic information, as well as the University's networks and data, at risk. If you want to confirm the validity of this message, please contact the ITCS Accounts Office at itcsao@umich.edu or (734) 764-8000, option 1. You must change your password to something more secure within the next 14 days. If you do not, ITCS will disable your uniqname and password. Should that happen, you would need to phone the ITCS Accounts Office to get your password reset and your uniqname and password re-enabled. You can change your password via the Web. Instructions are at http://www.itcs.umich.edu/your-account/password.html. TIPS FOR CHOOSING YOUR NEW PASSWORD For more tips on choosing a strong UMICH Kerberos password, see Choosing and Changing a Secure UMICH Password (R1162). To learn more about the University’s password security efforts, see the ITSS FAQ at http://safecomputing.umich.edu/itss-itcs.html Thank you for helping protect your and the University’s computing resources.
