On July 19, Windows users worldwide experienced a massive IT outage caused by a faulty update in the cybersecurity software, CrowdStrike Falcon. Some companies are still recovering and costs are expected to be in the billions. IA experts discussed the widespread outage - cause, impact on U-M systems and operations, and how the university responded. They also shared steps CrowdStrike has taken recently and will pursue going forward to mitigate ongoing risks.
