Phishing Message Summary

This phishing email attempts to trick users in to entering their name and password on a fake login site by impersonating U-M Libraries. The fake login page immitates the U-M Weblogin page, but has an incorrect url for the address. Note that the real U-M Weblogin page is at https://weblogin.umich.edu . Always check the url of a login page before entering your credentials!

Phishing Email Text

In order to ensure the timely return or renewal of items the Libraries charge overdue fines. The amount and frequency of fine accrual depends on the type of item checked out. Books from any University Library may be renewed through MyAccount feature. To renew one or more individual items, check the box next to the item's title, then click the "Renew Selected Items" button. Please note that recalled items cannot be renewed as they are requested by another user.
