In July 2022, The Chronicle of Higher Education hosted a virtual forum on The Student-Data Challenge: Sharing and Security. The 75-minute session focused on the importance of privacy protections in an increasingly tech-driven world. Panelists, including University of Michigan Vice President for Information Technology & Chief Information Officer, Ravi Pendse, explored what these protections look like in practice, along with students’ perceptions of their data privacy and ways that colleges can be more transparent in how they use, store and protect data.
