Research administrators and IT security professionals face growing pressure to interpret complex federal and institutional requirements, onboard new staff quickly, and maintain trust while generic AI tools often produce incomplete or noncompliant guidance. This presentation will describe how, the University of Michigan College of Engineering addressed this by developing a governance-by-architecture approach for building specialized AI assistants that enforce compliance by design rather than relying on user caution.
