It starts with a job offer, but then they ask for a favor like acquiring gift cards or processing a check that turns out to be fake.
Housing scams
Scammers pretend to be U-M housing staff and try to get you to sign a fake "housing contract" and pay "rent" to them.
Report Phishing
If you encounter a phishing email, send the full message with headers or a description to [email protected].
Tips
Pay attention to browser plugins: Research the publisher before installing and be cautious when granting permissions - you’re authorizing them to access data and take action on your behalf in all web-based services.
Don’t share your MCard: on social media or other public platforms. Scammers can use an image of it to impersonate you for malicious purposes, like scamming others.
