Phishing Message Summary

This phishing message attempts to fool recipients into thinking their email account might be shut down. It directs recipients to a fake login page. You can spot a fake login page by the wrong URL and bad immitation of U-M branding.

Links in the phishing message send users to a fake login page. Links have been removed from this example.

Phishing Email Body

Dear Umich User,

Our record indicates that you recently made a request to shut down your e-mail and this request will be processed shortly. If this request was made accidentally and you have no knowledge of it, you are advised to cancel the request now.

Cancel De-activation [link removed] and sign back in to avoid automatic closure

However, if you do not cancel this request your account will be shut down shortly and all your email data will be lost permanently.
