Robocall phishing scam referring to mandated U-M password change

Date Sent

U-M students and employees have reported they received suspicious phone calls asking if they have changed their UMICH passwords, and stating that their accounts would be deactivated if the password change is not confirmed. Be aware of this and share/advise those in your community that this calling activity is a scam.

  • Information and Technology Services (ITS) is NOT robo-calling people to confirm they changed their passwords!
  • The call came from a local 734 area code number, but know that caller ID can be spoofed.
  • Reportedly the voice sounded artificial and pre-recorded.

Some U-M community members reported receiving this email. It is fraudulent or malicious. Do not respond, click any link in it, or provide personal information or money. See Phishing & Scams for more tips. If you need help, contact the ITS Service Center.
