Cybersecurity Awareness Month—Michigan Medicine faculty & staff

The email message below was sent to faculty and staff at Michigan Medicine on October 1, 2020—the first day of Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Michigan Medicine community,

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month and a reminder that we all play a role in securing and protecting IT across Michigan Medicine and all of U-M. This year, we are focusing on IT security and privacy best practices for remote work.

Please keep security and privacy in mind as you continue to adjust to new ways of working. You can make a real difference in improving IT security for U-M and yourself.

See National Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2020 on Safe Computing for activities throughout the month.

Follow best practices

  • Use a password manager. All Michigan Medicine community members are eligible for a free LastPass account to store all of your usernames and passwords in one safe place.
  • Create a successful remote work environment. See our Tech Guide to Working Remotely to ensure you have the right equipment, access, and tools to communicate and collaborate virtually.
  • Tips and guidance on everything from remote IT security and phishing to secure videoconferencing and passwords are on Safe Computing. Get a quick flyover of the site: Video: You've Got a Site for That—Safe Computing (1:55).

Wishing you an informed Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
